GaCo takes second place at Battle 'O Baltimore

It was a fun off-season competition at Baltimore MD this weekend.

The team took the souped up robot (Meshach 3.1) to the competition ready to hold our own against the same robots that had been pushing us around at prior competitions.

Friday was practice day. We tested the new drive system and showed off our cool autonomous modes. Saturday was game day and we rotated all the team members through the "Drive Team" stations.

We scored in auto-mode almost every match, and soon got a rep' for being a good scorer. Consequently we quickly became a target for agressive defensive action. But this time we got to fight back into scoring position. The new dual motor drive, and extra wide wheels (thanks to Dan at Garrett Container Systems) gave us the pushing power we needed.

At the end of seed matches we were ranked 7th seed. As an alliance captain, we chose 1727 to join us, and then picked up 1806 as our final partner.

It was a great alliance, and we beat out the second and third seeded alliances to win the quarter and semi finals. Ultimately we couldn't beat the first seeded alliance but it was a tough competition all the way to the end.

Thanks to the student and mentors who came to the competition, and eveyone who helped us update Meshach.
