Eight teams competed this weekend at the SuGO (Sumo LEGO) Robotics event held at the Garrett Engineering And Robotics Society (GEARS) building in Accident MD.
The teams started their two-and-a-half hour robot build-period at 1:00pm, then, at 3:30pm the elimination matches began. Fourteen matches later, only two teams remained.
Team “RoboBusters” shown at left, comprised Grant Owens, Garrett Owens and Ian Bramande.
Team “Got LEGOs?” shown at right, comprised Jeffrey Bender, Kendrick Bender (last month’s winner), Derrick Maust and Kevin Maust.
After shaking hands to demonstrate their gracious professionalism, the two teams prepared for their final match. The robot’s skills were very evenly balanced, but "Got LEGOs?” finally emerged victorious.
All the teams are looking forward to playing again on November 4th. For more information, call Phil at (301) 387-2331 or visit the GEARS website at SuGO.GEARSinc.org.
