What: 2009 Controller Clinic.
Bring your early-shipment controller Bin-Of-Parts and leave with a fully functional control-system, mounted on a board ready for bench testing or robot prototyping.
Where: GEARS Inc. robotics facility.
116 Industrial Park Drive, Accident, MD.
Near Deep Creek Lake and Wisp Ski resort in Garrett County.
3 Hours West of Baltimore, 2 Hrs South of Pittsburgh, 45 Min East of Morgantown.
Don’t want to drive all day? Come early on Saturday to play on the slopes then spend the night. Sleep in for a fresh start on Sunday. Rooms available for about $90 within 5 miles.
Who: Open to all FRC teams.
Teams will need to limit the number of people who attend due to space requirements.
This will be a work session so it will benefit the lead software and electrical students/mentors the most. Attendance is free, but registration will be required. Please forward your interest to one of the contacts below, indicating how many people would like to attend.
Schedule:
10:00am – 10:30am Controller Hardware overview and explanations
10:30am – 11:00pm Software overview and standard templates
12:00pm – 5:00pm Build your bench test setup.
Control System assembly and setup.
Software installation and customization.
A practice field will be available for robot retrofit and testing.
12:00pm – 1:00pm Working lunch (Hot-dogs, snacks and Sodas)
What to bring:
- Advance shipment: 2009 Controller Kit.
- Two 12V DC motors for testing (Globes are ideal).
- 12V Battery with cable & connector attached (from past year’s robot).
- Robot-side Battery cable with connector and lugs (from past year’s robot).
- 120A Main Circuit breaker (from past year’s robot).
- Basic hand tools (eg: screwdrivers: phillips and standard)
- Wire stripper and Cutter.
- 20’ Ethernet cable for tethered operation or hookup to wireless router.
- Power strip (for driver station and laptop).
- Laptop for installing & running software (needs DVD reader and 5GB free disk).
- Thumb Drive for transferring code and updating Driver Station.
Optional stuff.
- Stripped down robot chassis for mounting bench test controller board.
- Spare solenoid, gyro or other sensors for testing.
